Laboratory in A Box?
How body worn sensors are changing the way we assess movement and human activity
You’ll notice that my title has changed, as our group, CLEAR has expanded to the Southwest. We now include members from Chicago, at Scholl’s Center for Lower Extremity Ambulatory Research, Des Moines, at the Broadlawns Center for Amputation Prevention and at the University of Arizona, where we have established the Southern Arizona Limb Salvage Alliance, or SALSA.
Dedicated CLEARcasters will recall an episode a few months ago where we discussed issues of unsteadiness, uncertainty and increased risk for complications. What if we could measure that unsteadiness easily and relatively unobtrusively? Perhaps we could intervene and make a difference. That is exactly our discussion today. Our guest is Bijan Najafi, Assistant Professor and Director of CLEAR’s Human Performance Laboratory at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago. Bijan has a stellar career, spanning education and research experiences in his native Iran, Switzerland, Harvard University in Boston and now CLEAR.
